The software research group in TCS Innovations Lab - TRDDC has forged alliances with the following: College of Computing, Georgia Tech is engaged in active research in areas pertaining to regression testing, high performance testing, robotics and information security. They are an acclaimed national leader in the creation of real-world computing breakthroughs that drive social and scientific progress. TCS has entered into a multi year collaborative research with College of Computing on testing in general and regression testing in particular. The collaboration is in its third year since inception and Prof. Mary Jean Harrold is the principal investigator. As a part of this collaboration TCS is also a member of CERCS (Center for Experimental Research in Computer Systems). The research group has come up with theoretical foundations and proof of concept prototypes related to efficient and scalable regression testing techniques. They have come up with techniques, methodology and research prototypes in domains of regression test selection and prioritization, test adequacy and test augmentation. TCS has also recently initiated collaborative research with Prof. Sham Navathe in the area of Enterprise Data Integration. This is part of an initiative to address some of the hard and pressing practical problems in the area of information management. There is a growing realization in the IT industry that modeling and model driven development are the keys to achieving greater control over development, integration, change management and reuse of software assets. OMG is the focal point for industry initiatives in modeling and model driven development. Over the years OMG has standardized many key modeling technologies such as UML, MOF, CWM, KDM etc. It's Model Driven Architecture (MDA) initiative is an attempt to bring all these modeling technologies under one architectural umbrella. On the other hand Architecture Driven Modernization (ADM) attempts to standardise the representaion of source code, implementation architrecture, metrics etc. With a long history of deleoping and using model driven development technologies, TCS is a pioneer in this area and has a keen interest in actively participating and influencing the standardization efforts of OMG. The next generation model driven development effort at TRDDC has been pioneering several new technologies, which it is important to align with industry standards for greater acceptance and integration. In fact, many of the goals of our model driven development initiative are very similar to those of OMG MDA. Recognizing this, TCS,as a platform technology member of OMG, has been actively participating in OMG's MDA standardization initiatives and has made some key contributions. We are a strategic partner of TCS’s Financial Services Products business unit to help them meet many of their technical objectives. They generate a large number of requirements that result into research initiatives that lead to tools that are used to design, develop and manage their products. Key problems that are being addressed for them are configurability and customizability, separating technical architecture, platforms and technology from business functions, enabling high programmer productivity with consistent quality, ability to manage large scale development and large customer base. Similarly we work with other business units to address problems related to software engineering – e.g. with the embedded systems practice to focus on means to assert critical system properties, with the insurance practice on mechanisms to define insurance products, with the re-engineering practice to design custom re-engineering solutions. We work with TCS delivery units to understand the issues involved in the continued support and enrichment of existing systems.
